The Antique Automobile Club of Iceland is very active, runs a club
house, has its own car store-house, and publishes a quality magazine
and members get a news letter regularly.
Within the club there are many committees, each attending to their
own different matters. In the summer the club
has the team-drive of antique cars and shows for the public across
the country.
At 5 years interval the club celebrates with a great show of antique
cars, old photos and other things connecting the history of the car
in Iceland.
At the club house the members discuss their interests and look at
magazines and the books in the library. At open house in winter time
there are various programs, such as lectures, educational trips and
filmshows.
The antique cars club tries to improve the unity among amateurs and
owners of antique cars and have their interest in mind always. Besides
the club tries to increase the public interest in antique cars and
the importance of them as keepsake.
From the very beginning in 1977 the club has always had the best interest
of the members in mind, e.g. the preterming of car charges and lowering
of import-and insurance cost, and now the antique cars can use the
older type of number plates. This has been achieved by constantly
reminding authorities of the historical importance of cars in our
history.
One of the objectives of the Antique automobile car club is to introduce
members to each other so they can exchange information and ideas about
restoring cars.
